Today at college it was all about using pumpkins and flowers to create stunning table arrangements.
I have to say I was slightly dreading it... It seems like such a tacky idea but I found some beautiful designs on Pinterest, which eased my thoughts and also got me thinking about the types of flowers (and pumpkins) I wanted to get.
I knew I didn't want bog standard orange pumpkins and I wanted to create a softer more delicate floral display - something which embraced autumn but without being overly obvious.
First stop was Orchard Nursery, where I knew I could get dahlias. The dahlia bed there is more than 40 years old and has some stunning plants to choose from. It's also incredibly good value.
Next stop, the wholesaler (Flowers for Florists) where I got red carnations, green chrysanthemums and golden rod. The pumpkins came from Sainsbury's, where I also found some gorgeous orangey roses. I gathered foliage from yesterday's dog walk and the college grounds!
